Winter has seen the arrival of the bad weather and has made boating difficult unless, like many of our members, you have taken your boat NORTH.
ANZAC WEEKEND-RAYMOND TERRACE TRIP
With perfect weather 5 boats headed out from Port Stephens on their way to Newcastle Yacht Club for the long weekend. With beautiful sunny conditions and no sea we travelled about 50 metres off the beach at about 6 knots and enjoyed the day. We saw a wedding on the beach, Apache caught some fishing and Ironic stopped for a swim (with his new shark repellent). Debutu enjoyed the view, Knot to Bad decided the weather was perfect for a drink and a boat with no name (Footloose/Miagra) enjoyed the dolphins. We arrived at the NCYC and then with 17 people on board Ironic we headed down to Merewether for a lovely afternoon cruise. The next day we travelled up the river to Raymond Terrace and had lunch at The Junction Inn hotel which was great. Some were lucky at two up and some just enjoyed the cold beer. All in all it was a great weekend and unfortunately we did not make it up to Hinton to see Mick and Elena.
We are looking at arranging another weekend to Newcastle and then hiring a small party boat to travel up the river to Hinton. Anyone interested email brad@ncess.com.au.
The annual club fishing competition was held on Sat Feb 6th it was a great success with THE FORCE taking out this year’s trophy. Congratulations to Doug, Deb, Janelle, Eric and Mark. Congratulations to GUNNRUNNER and DIVERSION who came 2nd and 3rd in the NPSGFC annual points score and to Katie Lee and James Holt who won the top female and top male anglers for the year.
